The way that you market your business should change year after year. After all, as the years go by, you will need to be targeting to new people and you will also need to target a completely different generation as well if your business is to be endurable. This can often make marketing hard work and this is especially the case if you have no idea how to appeal to the audience that you have right now.
Here I am going to give you sound Marketing Strategies that you need to employ right now and then develop as time goes by.
Be Transparent
People love transparency. Most people can smell a rat a mile away and they also love to feel part of the brand they are buying in to.
Try and share with them some behind the scenes information on what you or your company is up to at the moment. If you have an ebook in the making then talk about it before it is finished or maybe you have a new product range you are finalising. The best way for you to do this would be for you to share what’s happening on social media. Create a buzz.
Try and invite your readers to give their own feedback about any products or services that you already have as well. I always ask for your comments at the end of all my posts along with some social media shares…. hint hint !
It may also help to create a very short video or even some high-quality photos of the products that you have coming up. A video marketing team can help you with this, and you’d be surprised at how easy it is for you to really get the support you need with the right team by your side.
Get Customer Input
If you have a target generation or audience that you are trying to reach then don’t be afraid to get your business out there and connect with them. You can try and do surveys, quizzes or even focus groups. If you provide your customers with an incentive then there is no reason why they wouldn’t be willing to help you out. Giveaways are a great way to create customer input.
Getting customer input or feedback is one of the best ways for you to find out how you can give them the support that they need from your company and it is also one of the best ways for you to find out what they want from you as well.
Email marketing is a brilliant way to connect with your audience and find out how you can help them or to find out what they are looking for. Facebook groups are another great resource for getting input from you current or even potential customers.
Challenge Them
If you want to market more successfully, then you can rely on your customers to help you out with that as well. Tap into their own creativity and ask them what you can do better. You can even ask them to design a logo for your company, or the label for your upcoming product. This will help you to know what appeals to them and it is also a great way to get them to establish a personal connection with you and your company.
This may sound like scary stuff. After all this marketing lark requires you to put yourself and your business out there and risk criticism or worse still, being ignored. However, if your business is to thrive then you need to “Do It Scared” as my friend Ruth Soukup would say. This is her motto and you can read more about Ruth and her business by clicking here.
Be Human
At the end of the day, you are only human…. well at least I hope you are ! Your customers need to see this and you also need to show them a bit of personality from time to time as well. I do hope you get that from my posts?
This is especially the case if you are trying to appeal to a younger generation. Try and avoid being robotic or following strict online strategies. Speak to them in your online work as if you were writing to a friend.
Taking the robotic approach in your marketing will make you look like every other company out there and this is the last thing that you need. Try and be unique, and be relatable as well. If your business happens to experience a power outage, make a joke of this, post it on your social media page and make it known that things can happen to you as well because you’re not invincible. Customers love relatability and it can work wonders for your retention rates as well as gaining new fans and customers.
Online you will read a whole ton of stuff about marketing strategies that work. You will be encouraged to buy a product or two too. Remember these four points that I have made here and you will make any marketing strategy you employ, work for you and your business.
As ever, if you have any questions or want to share some marketing strategy that has worked for you then please leave them in the comments section below. I will be sure to get back to you as soon as I can.
