What Makes A Succesful Blogger – 7 Habits To Live By

There are huge numbers of people who decide to start a blog. Their reasons vary but in the main it is because they would really like to be a success and make lots of money. They think that starting a blog will be the key to becoming an entrepreneur and maybe, quitting the day job. Blogging can get you there but remember that the number of people who FAIL to turn a blog into a full-time business is far bigger than the number of those who do.
If you want to become one of those people who make a success of their blog then you need to be prepared to put in the time and the work.

7 HABITS OF SUCCESSFUL BLOGGERS

The truth is, it does take time to become a successful blogger. It takes time and effort and the willingness to learn. However, if you really want to become a success and create an amazing blog that earns you a truly passive income, you absolutely CAN. There are some habits you need to adopt today to make that a reality.
Here are my 7 Habits To Live By, if you are a blogger who wants success.

1. TREAT YOUR BLOG LIKE A BUSINESS.

Treat your Blog as a business

If you start a blog and hope one day it will be a thriving business, start treating it like a business right now. This is the most important habit of any successful blogger. All successful bloggers know exactly what they want out of their blog and they work hard to achieve it. If you treat your blog as a business you will commit your time and effort into growing it and you will be willing to invest money into it too. You will take it seriously.
Now don’t panic here. No one starts off knowing exactly what they want or has lots of money to throw at it. What the successful bloggers know is that they are willing to learn and work towards creating a thriving business of their own.

2. SET YOURSELF SOME GOALS.

Setting goals is important in life generally. If you don’t have a goal, how on earth are you going to plan how to get there. Setting a goal enables you to create a plan. Without a plan you are going nowhere fast.
The successful bloggers set goals for themselves continuously. Maybe they start by setting a goal to achieve a certain number of followers on Pinterest and then a goal to achieve a certain number of page views. As they achieve each goal they set a new one, each time getting more and more ambitious. Whatever your goal ( and you can start small ) work hard to achieve it. If you have a goal and don’t know how to achieve it, put research into your plan of attack.

3. PLAN AHEAD.

Plan ahead when blogging

Alongside goal setting comes planning. Planning ahead makes blogging so much easier. Each week or month, whatever suits you, make a plan. You know your goals and you know what time you have for your Blog. Create a calendar so you can plan all of your blog posts in advance. Plan what they will be about and when they will be published.
Successful bloggers will have posts written in advance. Posting consistently is one of the keys to success. It keeps the search engines and your readers happy. This does not mean you have to post every day but you do need to get into a routine and stick to it. All successful bloggers understand the importance of delivering great content to their audience on a regular basis.

4. BE PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT YOU DO.

Without passion there will be nothing but dullness, for you and your audience. The very best bloggers are passionate about what they do and what they want to achieve. Passion drives them to put in the effort and the time to become a success. Their posts and their website will have personality. There will be attention to detail as they want to give their audience the best of themselves and as much help as they can.

5. ENGAGE WITH AND LISTEN TO YOUR AUDIENCE.

Listen and engage with your audience

In order to create any thriving business, you need to know who your target audience is. If you know the type of people you’re trying to reach, you will be able to create content, products or services that are appropriate to them. All successful bloggers know their audience. They listen to what they want, and then deliver it.
Nourishing your relationship with your audience is essential for success. Take time to engage with your audience, encourage them to leave comments on your site by asking them to ask questions at the end of your posts. Alternatively ask them a question. Show your audience you are listening by leaving a response. Start conversations on social media or engage in other conversations. Never leave a question or a response unanswered.

6. DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS.

It is very easy to look around the internet and see someone who you “think” is doing better than you but you can’t let that affect you. No matter what you do there will always be someone who has more page views, more followers and makes more money than you. I know that is brutal, but it is true. Successful bloggers don’t let these facts stop them, they are inspired by them and it drives them to do better. Don’t be envious of someone else’s success, support them instead.
Successful bloggers collaborate with others. Collaborating with other bloggers or brands is a great way to grow your own audience. You can write guest posts, interview each other, and maybe even create products together. The most successful bloggers do not work alone. Do not be discouraged if you don’t already have a relationship with other bloggers. Make sure you put it on your “To do” list.

Collaborate with other bloggers

I do have an advantage here as I work with a community of people who work online in some way. Wealthy Affiliate hosts my websites and provides an amazing training program for me. If you want to read about it take a look at my post here. Wealthy Affiliate Community.

7. BE PERSISTENT.

Remember that success doesn’t happen overnight. Successful bloggers have learned that persistence is needed when you are trying to make a name for yourself online. It is easy to get discouraged if your blog isn’t growing as fast as you had hoped. It will take time and dedication to make your online goals a reality. But amazing things will happen if you just stick with it.
Just keep moving forward, create quality content your audience will want to read and apply these 7 habits to your daily routine.
I wish for you every success.

Yes, while it maybe tough for a while you to have to live by those rules for quite a while before honestly making any money. If you need money, this may not be for you. You may need some other strategies to be making money sooner. So keep at it and eventually you will bring all the traffic you need to your site. Great advice for anyone!

Hi Andrew and thanks for stopping by.

To be earning six figures you do have to keep at all of these 7 Habits for a while. However you can earn money reasonably quickly if you choose and promote the right Affiliate programs. Take a look at my post I need to make money – selling from your website with no product, it may be of help to you.

    Hi Karen,

“Dont compare yourself to others” is one of my biggest weakness. I tend to start doubting the quality of my work and my overall website architecture and then look at my competitors and feel EXTREMELY discouraged.

However, I try not to let it get to me. Most of the time, the worst enemy is yourself. Starting any kind of business tests your patience and it is something that I lack in. I am only 17 though, so I hope that my hard work now will pay off in the future. Everyone else is partying meanwhile I am busy working on my website.

    Great article, by the way!

Hi Rab and thank you for reading,

First of all give yourself a huge high five for starting your own blog at 17. Never doubt yourself you are already more accomplished than any 17 year old I have ever known. And I have 3 grown up children, shh don’t tell them, that I said that !

I wish for you every success and if you ever need any help just ask.

Hi Karen, my problem is not to compare myself with others because when I read other people blog I can’t help to think if I have to write in a certain way to make my blog more interesting or should I write about something that is trending (which in reality those things doesn’t interest me at all).. there are times I wrote something that doesn’t sounds like me at all.. sometimes I lose my confidence in writing because I compare myself to others..
I think I need to learn to accept that some people have a breakthrough after only a couple of months blogging and others took more time (and I might be the later one)…
Thank you for your Super helpful article 🙂

      Hi Kinan,
You should always write in your own style. This lets your readers feel as though they know you. Do not be swayed by what is trending unless you think it will help your readers in some way.
Keep going and always try to improve.
      Goal setting is really important.
      I wish you every success.

Great post, really good tips! It’s so important not to compare yourself to others. I love uniqueness more than anything else in the blogs I follow, but of course the other aspects you covered are also important!

Hi Sara and thank you for reading,
It is really easy to compare ourselves and our achievements but it really serves no purpose other than to stop us from achieving more.
I think our readers know if we do not have our own stamp on our site.
      I wish you every success
